MRS ORR EARLEY

Clara Ellen, daughter of John W. and Nancy Blackford, was born in York County, Pennsylvania, and when but a child moved with her parents to Van Buren County, Iowa.

Her childhood and girlhood was spent on a farm southwest of Hillsboro. She received her education in the common schools, and at the Northern Indiana Normal School of Valparoiso, Indiana. She taught seven rural schools of Bonaparte and West Branch, Iowa. After teaching seven years, she married Orr Earley, and to this union two children were born, Paul R. of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and John W. of Keosauqua.

After several months of patient suffering she passed away at the home of her son, John, in Keosauqua, Iowa, June 14, 1924.

She leaves to mourn their loss, her husband, two sons, four grandchildren, her mother, six brothers, and four sisters.

The mother, Mrs. J.W. Blackford, lives in Hillsboro. The names and addresses of the ten brothers and sisters are as follows: W. Scott and Aaron V. of Bonaparte, Iowa; Raymond L. and Will of Oskaloosa, Iowa; George of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; Phil of Hillsboro, Iowa; Mrs. June Boley of Ambridge, Penna.; Mrs. Rose Tully of Monte Vista, Colo.; Mrs. Effie Smith of West Branch, Iowa; and Mrs. Mattie Logan of Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral services were held on Monday at the late home in Hillsboro, Rev. Hughes, pastor of the Baptist church officiating. Interment in Hillsboro cemetery.
