Anna L. Morris

Anna Laura (Day) Morris, second child of Ira Benton and Holly Robinson Day and a granddaughter of Timothy and Elizabeth Edwards Day, was born Jan. 18, 1870, near Stockport, Iowa, and died Nov. 24, 1962 at her home at 4324 Franklin Ave., Des Moines, Iowa, aged 92 years, 10 months, and 6 days. Burial was in Glendale cemetery in Des Moines.

She married William Worthington Morris, fourth son of Samuel Mark and Charlotte Augusta Robbins Morris, and a grandson of Henry and Jane Mark Morris, on Oct. 6, 1892, who was at that time a student in the Keokuk College of Medicine, at Keokuk, Iowa.

She lived on farms near Stockport and Bentonsport, Iowa until 1913 when she and her husband and family moved to the Boyer farm south and east of Keosauqua, Iowa. In 1914 the family moved to a farm which they had purchased north of Canton in Lewis County, Missouri. In 1915 this farm was damaged irreparably by flood, which left sand from two to three feet in depth over all but a small portion of the entire farm. In 1916, the family moved to Canton, Missouri, and in 1918 from there to Des Moines, Iowa, where she lived until her death.

Mrs. Morris was a member of the Netaker Temple of Daughters of the Nile, and of Trinity Methodist Church in Des Moines.

She is survived by 8 children: Mark B. of Ames, Iowa; Mrs. Frances Mitchell of Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Janet Davidson of Anaheim, Calif.; Robert, Genevieve and May of Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. Marian Glass of Bergenfield, New Jersey; and Dorsey of Middleburg, Penn.; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. A son, Day, and a daughter, Mrs. Hollie Winslow, and her husband preceded her in death.

Also surviving are three sisters: Mrs. Lottie Welch, Keosauqua, Iowa; Miss Frances Day and Mrs. Georgia Robinson, Santa Ana, Calif., and one brother, Dr. W.E. Day, Tucson, Arizona.
