WILLIS SMUTZ

Funeral services for Willis Smutz who took his own life on Friday, July 11, were held at the Christian church in Hillsboro on Sunday afternoon.

He was about sixty years of age, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Randall Smutz, and most of his life had been spent in Hillsboro and vicinity. He was for several years engaged in the drug business at Hillsboro. After disposing of this business he was in the real estate business at Fairfield, moved from there to Ames, and then back to the Horn farm southwest of Hillsboro where he had been making his home at the time of his death.

He had been lame in his feet from boyhood from the effects of typhoid fever; had been injured in the hip about three years ago while employed on the Coleman road; and had been confined to his home by illness most of the time for past three years.

He is survived by his widow, Nellie Horn Smutz, four sons, Hugh, Willis, Wallace and Donald, at home, and two daughters, Mrs. C.L. Orbin of Ames and Mrs. W.H. Korten of Chicago; also by his father, Randall Smutz, and many other rela-(remainder missing) ...
