Margaret Cochenour was born in Van Buren County, Iowa, June 13, 1847 and passed away at her home in Bentonsport Monday night, Sept. 12, after a brief illness. She was the oldest of a family of ten children of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Cochenour, respected pioneer residents of the county. Two children died in infancy, leaving four sisters and three brothers. All have passed from the home nest into homes of their own and lives of usefulness, a credit to the principles of right living learned at mothers knee.
With the exception of several years in Missouri Margaret has resided with her brother Nathan, in the home now saddened by death. She was a good neighbor, kind and sympathetic in time of sorrow. She was a faithful attendant at Sabbath School and her application for membership in the Presbyterian Church had not been completed at the time of the death of Rev. McElhinney. She was earnest in her church duties and loyal in her support.
Funeral services were held at Miller Chapel Thursday afternoon, Sept. 15 conducted by Rev. H.J. Taylor.
