Dana Helen Blaskey, 96, of Lodi, Calif., and formerly of Keosauqua and Des Moines, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Vienna Nursing and Rehab Center in Lodi.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Dana Helen Blaskey

Dana Helen Blaskey, 96, of Lodi, Calif., and formerly of Keosauqua and Des Moines, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Vienna Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lodi.

A funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Douglas Harding officiating. Burial will be in Fellows Cemetery.

Vistitation with family is 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday prior to the service.

Memorials to Fellow Cemetery or Keosauqua United Methodist Church may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 2213 Aspen Grove Dr., Lodi, CA 95240.

Mrs. Blaskey was born Jan. 12, 1917, in Morning Sun, the daughter of Arthur "Bill" and Margaret Werts. She married Virgil Speck Blaskey June 20, 1934. He died in 1976.

She graduated from Morning Sun High School in 1933.

The couple resided in Keosauqua for many years, where she was involved in many organizations including Beer-Baker Unit, American Legion Auxiliary and Rainbow Girls. She was a past worthy matron of the former Lynds Chapter of Eastern Star in Keosauqua and a 50-year member of Twin City Chapter No. 258 in Douds.

In 1960, she and her husband moved to Des Moines. She worked as a seed analyst for the state of Iowa from 1961 until she retired.

She continued to live in Des Moines until failing health required her to move to Lodi, Calif., in 2007 to live with her daughter. When her health deteriorated further, she moved into Vienna Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lodi.

Survivors include one son, Larry Blaskey and spouse Bev of New Harmony, Utah; one daughter, Kris Caratenuto of Lodi, Calif.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
