Bill R. angsead, 82, of Keosauqua and formerly of Fairfield, died Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Sunnybrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.

A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

A private family interment will be in the Purdom Cemetery at Keosauqua.

Memorials can be made to Fairfield Police Reserve or Noah's Ark Animal Foundation. Online condolences can be made at www.raymondfuneralhomes.com.

Bill R. Angstead

Bill R. Angstead, 82, of Keosauqua and formerly of Fairfield, died Thursday May 22, 2014, at Sunnybrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.

A memorial service is planned at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 1, at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield. A private family interment will be in Purdom Cemetery at Keosauqua.

Memorials may be made to Fairfield Police Reserves or Noah's Ark Animal Shelter.

Mr. Angstead was born Oct. 20, 1931, in Fairfield, the son of Harold Sylvan and Nellie Edith Nott Angstead. He married Jean Weirbach June 11, 1949. He married Judith Wheeler April 15, 1982, in Fairfield. She died Sept. 16, 2003.

He grew up in Fairfield and graduated from Fairfield High School.

He worked as a telephone lineman and as a carpenter with his father and brother, Don.

He served on the Fairfield Police Department.

He served as deputy sheriff and later was Jefferson County sheriff from 1964 to 1992.

He was a member of the Army National Guard.

He and his second wife moved to their retirement home on Lake Sugema in 1992.

Survivors include three children, Cathy Brunton and spouse Robert of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Amy Nansel of Seattle and Adam Angstead and spouse Shana of Iowa City; three stepchildren, Bob Bowman, Dorrie Lyons and spouse Mike and Cathy Bowman, all of Fairfield; two grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald "Deke" Angstead of Fairfield; and one sister, Harriett Gustafson of Freeport, Illinois.

In addition to his wife, Judith, he was preceded by his parents and one brother, Harold Angstead.
