JOHN R. PRICE WAS BURIED ON MONDAY

Long a Resident of Farmington - Died at the Home of His Daughter in Burlington

John R. Price, a resident of Farmington from 1891 to 1927, died at the home of his daughter in Burlington last Friday.

He was a barber by trade and conducted a shop here until failing health forced him to abandon it. He built at least two residential properties, and two brick places of business here. The News-Republican occupies the north room of the Price building along Second street. He was a better man for Farmington than some who have fallen by the wayside, because he continued to own what he built.

John R. Price was born on a farm in Clark County, Missouri, December 25, 1852. He lived there until 1891. In that year he was married to Miss Hattie Dalton. The couple moved at this time to Farmington, Iowa, to live. Mr. Price conducted a barber shop here from 1891 until May 25, 1927. Mr. Price was failing in health and he was asked to move to Burlington and make his home with his daughter, Mrs. C.W. Miller where he lived until his death on may 22, 1931.

Mr. Price departed this life at the age of 70 years, 6 months and 27 days.

Mr. Price was a faithful member of the Odd Fellow's lodge for a number of years, and while living in Farmington, was a member of the Baptist church, and was a regular attendant.

Beside his faithful wife, he leaves his daughter, Mrs. C.W. Miller, of Burlington; two sons, Elmer L. Price, of Des Moines and Earl R. Price, of Oak Park, Illinois, ten grandchildren and one great grandchild, many relatives and a host of friends.
