Death of John W. Hearn

John W. Hearn, one of Birmingham's best citizens, was born July 9, 1849, and passed away at his home Jan. 6, 1926. On September 21, 1876, he was married to Miss Annie Jamison. They moved to a farm near Pittsburg and there lived for 20 years when they moved to Birmingham which has been their home ever since.

He is survived by his wife and seven children, four daughters and three sons. The children are: Mrs. H.R. Hawk of Los Angeles; Mrs. Ira Roher of Boise, Idaho; Mrs. R.L. Spencer of Redwood Falls, Minn.; Miss Cora Hearn of Chicago; Tom of Des Moines, and Walter and Ray of Boise.

He was a faithful member of the Methodist church and was a Bible class teacher in Sunday school at Birmingham for years.

A short funeral service at the home at 12:45 and at the M.E. church at 1:00 p.m. by the pastor Rev. Fred Skewes. Burial was at the Purdom cemetery, Keosauqua, where other members of the family are buried.
