Dr. Richard Smith Boyer 1925-2016

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, greatgrandfather and friend, Dr. Richard Smith Boyer of American Fork, UT, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016, at the age of 90.

Richard was born to George and Katharine Boyer on May 17, 1925, in Douds, IA. He was the youngest of two sons. He graduated from Douds Leando High School, Iowa Success Business School, went three years to the University of Utah and four years to Iowa State University graduating as a Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine.

He practiced 24 years as a veterinarian in Keosauqua, IA.

He enlisted in the United States Navy on March 03, 1943, and served three years active duty in the Pacific Theater during WWII.

Richard married the love of his life, Elaine Lambourne, on April 19, 1946. They were getting ready to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on April 19, 2016. Together, Richard and Elaine have five children: Robert (Jan), Richard (Charlotte), Susan (Darryl) Sohm, Kathryn (John) Allen, and David (Shelly). They have 30 grandchildren and 70 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Jack, and a granddaughter, Julie Marie.

Richard loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and was an active member of The Church of Latter Day Saints. He served two missions: Liberty Jail in Liberty, MO, and a service mission for three years at the Lindon Cannery in Lindon, UT.

He enjoyed traveling, writing nine family history books, and spending time with his family.

Funeral services were held on April 20, 2016, at the LDS Hillcrest 1st Ward (939 North 540 West, American Fork, UT). Interment was in American Fork City Cemetery under direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
