Clifford Dean “Doc” Martin 1932-2016

Clifford Dean “Doc” Martin, 83, of Cantril, died Thursday, April 21, 2016, at home. He was born September 7, 1932, at Lowell, IA, to Tom and Ida Mae Carver Martin and married Jane Ann Daughrity November 2, 1952, in Cantril. She died March 1, 2003. Doc graduated from Cantril High School, spent his active life farming in the Cantril community and served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He was a member of the former Cantril Lions Club and was one of the founders of Cantril Grass Roots and Cantril Dayz.

Surviving are a son, Mark Martin (Sue) of Kirksville, MO, two daughters, Kim Stevens (Mark) of Ottumwa and Lindy Bradley (Dusty) of Pella, nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Beach and Ermalee Teal, and three brothers, Wilbur, Miles and Walter Martin.

Funeral services were held April 25, 2016, at Cantril United Methodist Church with Pastor Donna Olinger officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cantril.
