M. Pearson Dies At 77

BATAVIA - Mrs. Mildred M. Pearson, 77, died at 6:40 p.m. Saturday at the Jefferson County Hospital. (June 4)

Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m., at Campbell Funeral Chapel in Batavia with Rev. Kermit Black officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Douds. Visitation will be held at the funeral chapel this evening at 7.

Mrs. Pearson was born May 30, 1900 in Fulton County, Ill., the daughter of Henry and Chloie Elwell Sellers.

She had lived in Van Buren and Jefferson County for 60 years and Batavia for the past 11 years. She was a member of Douds United Methodist Church and ODO Club of Batavia. Her marriage to Ray Pearson took place Jan. 31, 1923. He survives.

Also surviving are five daughters, Josephine Anderson of Fairfield, Chloe Hewitt of Keokuk, Judith Wilkinson of Bloomfield, Margaret Hall of Keokuk, Evy Smith of Ottumwa;

Six sons, John and David of Batavia, Ralph and Roscoe of Birmingham, James of Pulaski and George of Davenport. 36 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren also survive.

Other survivors are three brothers, Roland Sellers of Ottumwa, George Sellers of Douds and Leroy of Ottumwa.
