ROBERT S. GOULD

Robert S. Gould, 86, retired farmer and a former resident of the Birmingham community, died about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15 at his home in Richland.

Gould was the last member of a family of 10 children. He had been in failing health since suffering a stroke in 1959.

Robert S. Gould was born on a farm near Birmingham where he lived his entire life until moving to Richland 1 1/2 years ago. He was the son of Ebenezer and Rebecca Brownfield Gould and was born March 14, 1880.

He was married to Arminta Stull on Oct. 18, 1911, at the home of her parents in Batavia. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1961.

Gould is survived by his wife; one son, Maurice Could, Richland; three daughters, Marjorie Gould, Iowa City; Mrs. Kenneth Beebe, Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Sam Holcomb, Osage; also 11 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, three nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by three brothers and six sisters.

He had been affiliated with the Presbyterian church at Birmingham since 1893 where he attended regularly until his health failed him.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Birmingham Presbyterian church, in charge of the Rev. Millard Marshall. Burial was in Maple Hill cemetery, Birmingham.
