Edward Strait

Edward Strait, 55, prominent farmer of near Keosauqua, died last Thursday morning at Jefferson county hospital at Fairfield. He had entered the hospital on Monday after becoming ill Saturday.

He was born in Van Buren county March 26, 1893, the son of the late Israel and Sarah Plowman Strait. He was a veteran of world war I, a past commander of the American Legion post and was a director of Farmers State bank of Keosauqua.

Mr. Strait never married. He is survived by four brothers, Garfield, Clarence, Brude and Wilbur of Keosauqua, and two sisters, Mrs. Milo DeLong of West Chester and Mrs. Lena Crane of Douds. A brother and sister preceded him in death.

The funeral was held in the Methodist church in Keosauqua, the Rev. J.C. Austin officiating. Burial was in the Pittsburg cemetery.
