Mrs. Newton M. Breckenridge.

Mary Catherine, eldest daughter of Anna and Alexander Campbell, was born August 22, 1883, near Douds-Leando, Iowa. April 2, 1918, she was stricken with measles, later pneumonia developed and April 6, 1918, she passed away at her home near Eldon, her age being 34 years, 7 months and 15 days. She was married to Newton M. Breckenridge December 17, 1902, at Keosauqua by Rev. C.E. Perkins. To them were born several children, Alice dying in infancy; Clyde W., Clair D., Dale, Beulah who died in infancy, Harold E. and a little daughter Gladys, of only a few short hours, who will never know a mother's love. The husband, mother, three sisters and a brother are left to mourn their loved one. Mary was a devoted wife and mother and a faithful friend and neighbor.

"She hath done what she could
It is said that if one we cherish
Should be taken from our home,
But the joys that do not perish
Live in memory alone.

All the years we've spent together,
All the happy golden hours,
Shall be cherished in remembrance,
Fragrant sweeps from memory's flowers."

We wish to express our thanks to kind friends and neighbors for assistance during the sickness, death and burial of our dear one, also to the Ladies' Aid of Leando for the beautiful floral offerings.
