Death of Miss Gladys Minear.

It was with deep sorrow that friends of this county read a newspaper item from Mt. Pleasant last Thursday announcing the death of Santiago, South America, of the talented daughter of Rev. and Mrs. George Minear at Mt. Pleasant. The father was reared at Kilbourne and for some years has been superintendent of the Muscatine district. The family has the sympathy of their many friends in this county. The Mt. Pleasant newspaper item follows:

Mt. Pleasant, Io.; July 9. - A cable from Mrs. Mary Swaney announces the death of Miss Gladys Minear at Santiago, Chili, South America, July 7. She had been ill since March and Mrs. Swaney was with her when she died. Mrs. Minear was a teacher in the American college, managed by the Methodist Episcopal church. She went to South American in March, 1921, for a 5-year-stay. She is a daughter of Rev. and Mrs. George Minear of this city. Rev. Mr. Minear is superintendent of the Muscatine conference of the Methodist Episcopal church. She was born at Salina near Fairfield, 27 years ago. Her funeral services were held today in Santiago and she will be buried there among the people whom she served.
