Obituary of Mrs. Hugh Barker

Anna F. Saunderson, the third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Saunderson, was born near Franklin, Morgan county, Ill., August 12, 1858, and died at her home near Selma, Iowa, May 19, 1915, aged 56 years, 9 months and 7 days. When a little girl she moved with her parents to near Mt. Zion, Van Buren county, Iowa, where they located Sept. 24, 1865. There she was married to Hugh Barker, Jany. 21, 1889. When in her girlhood years she was united with the Presbyterian church. Later, when she moved with her husband to their farm adjoining Keosauqua, she united with the Methodist church of which she remained a member until her death. Mrs. Barker was a good woman, beloved by all her acquaintances. Her husband died a number of years ago. The children surviving are Mernice, Sands, Hallie, Walter, Hazel, Brooks, Orpha, Clara, Stanley, and Willa, also a brother W.H. Saunderson, near Keosauqua; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Weaver of Kahoka, Mo., and Mrs. Margaret Nelson. Funeral services were held May 24 at the Mt. Zion church, conducted by Rev. W.H. Slack of Drakeville. Burial was in the Purdom cematery(sp) at Keosauqua.
