Obituary of Malinda Ann Frazee.

Malinda Ann Frazee was born near Kilbourne, Van Buren county, Iowa, Dec. 14th, 1848, and died in Canyon City, Colorado Sept. 3rd, 1914, aged 66, years eight months and 18 days. Her death was the result of an attack of pneumonia brought by a trip up into the mountains and which proved fatal in a few days. All of her life, up to within the last eight years, was spent in Van Buren county, her home being on the Frazee homestead about one mile below Kilbourne. She was familiarly known as Minnie Frazee and it is doubtful if she ever had an enemy, her life being one continuous effort to be kind and do good to all. Her mother lived to be old and became quite a charge, but no mother ever had a more loving heart and kinder hands to care for her in old age than Minnie Frazee's mother. The active part of her life was given to school teaching and large numbers of children were under her care and it is safe to say that all of them were given higher ideals of life and more noble asperations through the influence of her christian life and instruction. She became a christian in early life, and no effort was ever too great to make in the interest of the Christ she loved. The building of the present church at Kilbourne was accomplished very largely to her efforts. She raised a large part of the money to build it and from the time the effort to build was started until it was finished she was ready to do anything in her power and when any one failed in their part she was ready to take their place and complete the work. Hers was a kind, sweet spirit that always tends to bring out the best in every one she met. The funeral was held at Douds, Sept. 8, the burial being in the Ream cemetery.(err)

A spirit of sadness o'erspread this place last Thursday when the news of the death of Miss Minnie A. Frazee reached the old home neighborhood where she resided so many years, taking an active part in all church and social work. We have known her to walk miles in any kind of weather to minister unto the sick and dying, ever ready to help anyone in distress. Well do we remember when a child, how we enjoyed her singing, accompanied by her brothers H.B. and Jacob.
