OBITUARY

Virginia Mae Van Weelden

Virginia Mae Van Weelden, 86, of Surprise, Arizona, and formerly of Selma died at 1:55 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2014, at home.

In accordance with her wishes, the body has been cremated, and a graveside service is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Moriah Cemetery north of Douds, with the Rev. Mark Young officiating.

Memorials to Mount Moriah Cemetery can be left at the cemetery or mailed to the family at 17117 166th St., Basehor, KS 66007.

Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds is handling the arrangements.

Mrs. Van Weelden was born July 11, 1928, at home in Van Buren County, the daughter of George E. and Margaret J. Talbott Findlay. She married Richard M. Van Weelden July 17, 1946, in Batavia. He died June 15, 2010.

The couple lived in the Selma community and moved to Arizona in 1951.

Mrs. Van Weelden was a homemaker.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Eloy, Arizona.

She enjoyed sewing, reading and traveling in her free time.

Survivors include: one daughter, Jane Schubert and husband Rodney of Basehor, Kansas; one granddaughter; one grandson; four great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Junior Findlay of Waukee, Richard Findlay of Moses Lake, Washington, and Glen Findlay of Arizona City, Arizona.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
