Obituary of M.C. Bish.

Marshal Columbus Bish, son of Joseph and America Bish, was born in Scotland county, Mo., Oct. 22, 1856. After an illness of over three months he passed away at his late residence in Keosauqua at 5 o'clock a.m., Oct. 16, 1922, aged almost 67. His father was among the early settlers of Missouri, and was a member of the staff of survey, which established the boundary line between Iowa and Missouri. He was united in marriage with Miss Susie Craig, Aug. 30, 1892. To this union two children were born Mrs. E. May Johnson of Eldon, who died in 1917, and Joseph C., who, with Mrs. Bish, were at the bedside when he passed beyond. Bro. Bish was very patient during the days of his illness and made his peace with God by faith in Jesus Christ a few weeks before his death. He made his profession of Christ, his Savior, to his pastor, and passed consciously into God's Kingdom or Christ's spiritual church where spirits of just men are made perfect. After entering into peaceful relations with God he patiently waited the call to the higher realm.

Funeral services were held at the home, conducted by his pastor Rev. J.C. Caughlan, who spoke briefly from 1 Cor.-15, 55-57. The choir consisted of Mrs. James Harwood, Mrs. Mattie Caughlan, John Wright and Joseph Barker. They sang three selections, two of which were favorites of the deceased. The body was tenderly laid to rest in the Oak Lawn cemetery to await the resurrection.
