Dr. Francis W. McIntosh, 64, of Burlington, a former osteopath in Keosauqua, died Wednesday, July 12 at Kirksville Osteopathic Hospital in Kirksville, Mo., after a lengthy illness.
He was born July 22, 1896, in Keosauqua, son of John W. and Minnie Dell Luke McIntosh.
He was married Dec. 8, 1935, in Fairfield, to Judith Marie Scott, who survives.Dr. McIntosh attended Iowa Wesleyan College and was graduated from Still School of Osteopathy in Des Moines. He practiced in Keosauqua for 34 years before moving to Burlington in 1954.
Surviving besides his widow, are two sons in the Navy, Frances W. McIntosh stationed at the Naval Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. and Jene L. McIntosh, with the Naval Hospital at Bethesda, Md.; his mother; two brothers, Dr. J.A. McIntosh of Keosauqua and Tech. Sgt. Harrell E. McIntosh of Fairfield, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Lola Gilbert and Mrs. Lloyd Gray of Keosauqua; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and three brothers.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 15 at the Burnett-Catcott Funeral home in Keosauqua. The Rev. Albert Peterson, Ottumwa, officiated. Burial was in the Center Chapel cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established to be given to the Kirksville Osteopathic Hospital.
