DOUDS - Delber L. Plowman, 85, of rural Douds died at 10:04 a.m. Jan. 30 [1979] at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua, where he was a patient for three years.
He was born Jan. 3, 1894, in Chequest Township to Lewis and Laura Woolley Plowman, and was a lifetime resident there. He married Anna Ploss on May 16, 1925, at Keosauqua. They lived on the same farm south of Douds all their married life. He was a farmer who also taught school for 12 years and served in the U.S. army during World War I. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Celestial Lodge No. 413 A.F. and A.M., Twin City Chapter No. 258 O.E.S., and John Hyson Reneker Post No. 494 American Legion, all of Douds.
Survivors: his wife; a brother, Wilmer of Ottumwa; and sisters Verna Hissem and Willa Plowman of Ottumwa.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, the Rev. Helen Brown and the Rev. L.C.Brown officiating. Masonic rites will follow the service at the funeral home.
Burial with military rites: Mount Moriah Cemetery north of Douds.
