Death of Selma Ruth Dodds
Selma Ruth, fourth daughter of Lute W. and Iowa Rose Dodds, was born in Van Buren county, Iowa, Nov. 16, 1902, and departed this life at her home in Utica, Iowa, Feb. 5, 1920, at the age of 18 years, 2 months and 5 days. She leaves to mourn their loss, her father, mother, grandfather, four sisters and four brothers, besides relatives, friends and schoolmates. Selma was a loving daughter and a kind and thoughtful sister. She received her common school education in the Utica public school and entered the Stockport high school in September, 1917, this being her Junior year. She took a decided interest in her school work and during her last illness she was ever thoughtful of her studies and schoolmates. She was taken into the Rebekah Lodge Chapter 145, at Stockport, Iowa, on Jan. 14, 1920. There is a vacancy in the lives of her loved ones which can never be filled but we will try to console ourselves with the thought that it was God’s will that she was taken from us.
