Mrs. Wm. Marriott

Leona McElroy Marriott, daughter of John and Phoebe Jane McElroy, was born Nov. 19, 1869, near Farmington, Iowa, and on Wednesday evening Nov. 26, the summons came from the Great Beyond and she passed away at her home near Bentonsport, Iowa, at the age of 50 years and 7 days.

Her death came as a shock to her many relatives and friends. She was ill only a few days; a chill on Thursday morning Nov. 2, followed by pleurisy, which rapidly developed into double pneumonia and in less than one week the end came.

On March 24, 1888, she was united in marriage to Edward Carter and to this union was born one son, Albert.

Dec. 20, 1893, she was united in marriage to Wm. L. Marriott, and to them were given four children; Joseph Stacy, who preceded her in death only 5 months and a few days; Pluma Jane; Lela May, and little Florence Elizabeth who left 2 years ago last July to await them in the home above.

Mrs. Marriott openly confessed her faith in her Savior at a series of meetings held in the Mt. Zion church three years ago.

Besides her husband, two daughters and one son, she leaves to mourn her death, her aged father, two sisters, two brothers, two little grandsons and a host of loving friends.

Our departed friend, devoted wife and loving mother had a sympathetic nature, and only in a time of need but always was she willing and ready to do what she could for those among whom she lived. She will be greatly missed for all who knew her loved her.
