Jackie Blaine Zeh, 66, of rural Bonaparte, died at 3:45 PM. Friday, July 24, 2015, at home. He was born May 20, 1949, in Ft. Madison, IA, to Jacob E. and Ruby Atwell Zeh, grew up in rural Hancock County, IL, and graduated from Warsaw, IL, Community High School in 1968. He served in the U.S. Navy March 5, 1969, to March 4. 1975, including service as a Commissary Man Basic (chef/cook) aboard U.S.S. Cadmus. He was honorably discharged and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
Jack married Lynda R. Snyder on September 17, 1978, in La Harpe, IL. They lived in various locations including Abilene, KS, where they ministered in song at nursing homes and churches. His final years have been spent in the Bonaparte community with his faithful wife. They attended various churches including Four Square Gospel Church in Abilene, KS, and Hillsboro, IA, Christian Church. Jack enjoyed breaking, training and riding horses, singing gospel music, hunting and fishing.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Jaquelyn (Jackie) Zeh in Florida, four stepsons, Dustin Wamsley of Gladstone, IL, John and James Cameron both of La Harpe, IL, and Norman Cameron of West Burlington, IA, and a step-daughter, Tabitha Wamsley Loper of Burlington, IA. Also surviving are three brothers, Gary Zeh of West Plains, MO, Brennen Zeh of Niota, IL, and Kenneth Brown of Mt. Pleasant, IA, five sisters, Stella Byrd of Tyler, TX, Sue Henson of Niota, IL, Barbara Black of Farmington, IA, Pamela Zeh of Niota, IL, and Debra Armstrong of Donnellson, IA, a stepbrother, Michael Evans of Burlington, IA, 16 grandchildren and a greatgrandson. His parents and a stepdaughter, Rhonda Morris, preceded him in death.
Jack's body was 'cremated. A memorial service was held July 28, 2015, at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Pastor Jim Luder, HCI Hospice Chaplain, and Pastor Jeff Smith officiating. Private burial of cremains will be at a later date. Military honors by Sargent-Osweiler Post No. 563 American Legion, Bonaparte followed the service.
