Marguerite Lewis ~ 1864-1918

Marguerite Luella Morris was born at Bentonsport, Iowa, May 5, 1864. She was a daughter of Albert and Minerva Morris, being one of five children, Geo. W. Morris of Vernon, John O. Morris of Bonaparte; Martha A. Cross of Denver, Colorado. Katie and her mother died May, 1872. She was married to Edward H. Lewis in Vernon, January 5th, 1883. To this union three children were born: Harry A. Lewis of Keokuk; a little girl who died in infancy and Reuben Lewis of Keokuk. She died at her home in Keokuk, Iowa, June 26, 1918. The deceased leaves to mourn their loss a loving and devoted husband, two sons and a kind and loving daughter-in-law, an aged father and two brothers, all being present but one sister who was prevented by sickness. She joined the M.E. church in Vernon in 1886. Funeral conducted by Rev. F.S. Seeds Friday morning. Burial in Vernon cemetery.
