Death Takes V. Hoffman

BIRMINGHAM - Last rites for Van A. Hoffman, 62, will be held Monday, April 15, in Birmingham.

The services will be at 2 p.m. in the Birmingham United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Coughran and the Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Cemetery near Stockport.

Friends may call at the Burch Funeral Home in Birmingham Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. The casket will be taken to the church at noon Monday and will remain closed.

Van A. Hoffman was born June 17, 1911, in Jefferson County. He was the son of Frank and Dollie Schwartz Hoffman. He was married April 21, 1934, in Monmouth, Ill., to Esta Brown who survives.

Hoffman was a member of the Birmingham United Methodist Church and the local Burlington Carpenters' Local.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by two sons, Kenneth, Fairfield, and Danny, Burlington; three daughters, Mrs. Gloria Miles, Knoxville; Mrs. Karen Vinyard, Manhattan, Kansas; and Mrs. Judith Mack, Wayland, Mo.; eight grandchildren; one brother, Bruce, Fairfield; and three sisters, Blanche Hoffman, Perry; Mrs. Nellie Meacham, Richland; and Mrs. Wilda Downey, Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by one son and one sister.
