Sad indeed is the home that was so lately visited by the angel of death; stricken with grief is the family from which the very soul has been taken; deepest sorrow for the loss of the friend they loved so well, fills the hearts of young and old with a personal loss in the death of one who always had a smile and pleasant word for everyone.
Truly, “the loveliest of lovely things on earth are they that soonest pass away.”
Thelma Attlie Henry was born at Farmington April 18, 1901, where the babyhood days were spent. Later she removed to the home near Bonaparte where the remaining years were passed. She was a beloved member of the Lazy Daisy club, also of the Royal Neighbors of America.
She took an active part in the church and Sunday School. She was ever bright and sunny, and being of a self-sacrificing disposition was always hunting an opportunity to administer to the comfort of her friends and companions.
She was taken suddenly ill Sunday, Oct. 4th and was taken to the Graham hospital at Keokuk where everything was done to alleviate her suffering, but to no avail. She quietly fell asleep Sunday, Oct. 11th at 1:20 p.m., aged 30 years, 5 months and 23 days.
She leaves to mourn her untimely passing, her parents, two brothers, Martin and Ardell at home, Carl, dearly beloved friend, paternal father and mother of Bonaparte, Iowa, and maternal mother of Keokuk, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock at the M.E. church in Bonaparte, Rev. D.D. Flanagan officiating. Interment in Bonaparte cemetery.
