Obituary -- Miss Martha LaCock was born in Manchester, England 1827, came to America with her parents when but three years of age. Was united in marriage to Otis Thompson in 1848. Four children were born to them, three preceeded [sic] them to the better world. Her husband died in 1890. Since his death she has made her home with her son William Otis and family. The deceased united the Baptist church when quite young and has always been a consistant [sic] and devoted christian woman, making better the world by her having lived in it. We miss her, but we know she has gone to be with her many loved ones away from this life of suffering. Grandma Thompson in her long and weary years of suffering was never known to complain at the rod of affliction that heavily rested upon her and this life stands out in a picture patience to us all. The funeral was held in Bonaparte at the home of William Thompson the remains interred in the Thompson cemetery four miles southwest of town.
