Flossie Rebecca Norman, daughter of Carlos and Mary Norman, was born June 7, 1896, in Decatur county, Iowa. She came to Van Buren county in the spring of 1910 with her parents.

She was united in marriage with Roy H. Hellwig Feb. 20, 1916. To this union were born two sons, Carlos Frederick and Howard Arlo. Following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Hellwig have lived on the home farm near Bonaparte, Van Buren county, with the exception of one year spent in Colorado, being called back by Mrs. Hellwig’s failing health, they have made their home with his parents ever since.

For the past two years Mrs. Hellwig has been in failing health, having failed increasingly fast the last four months. She passed away on Monday evening, August 26, at 6 o’clock p.m. at the age of 33 years, 2 months 19 days.

Mrs. Hellwig was a very patient sufferer until the very last. Her good and commendable personality was evident in sickness as well as in health. Mrs. Hellwig was a good neighbor and she will be greatly missed by those who know her. Besides other good characteristics it can be truly said that she was a good wife and mother and will be sadly missed by all her friends, but particularly by her husband and two sons.

She leaves to mourn their loss her husband, Roy Hellwig, and two sons, Frederick and Howard; her father, Carlos Norman of La Plata, Mo., her mother having preceded her in death seven years ago, two brothers, L.H. Norman of Des Moines, and L.S. Norman of La Plata, Mo., and one sister, Mrs. C.B. White of Bonaparte, also a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at Story Chapel on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. J.C. Bruvold officiating. Interment in Thompson cemetery.
