Mrs. S.S. Troutman

Minnie M. Miller was born August 13, 1864, at Keokuk, Iowa, and died at her home in Bonaparte on May 21, 1937, at the age of 72 years, 9 months and 8 days. Her parents died when she was two years of age and she was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hinish of Bonaparte. She was educated in Bonaparte public schools and on Dec. 29, 1881, she was united in marriage to Stephen Scott Troutman.

To this union were born six children: Mrs. Clare Beard of Montrose, Mrs. Georgiana Smith of Keokuk, Joseph S., James E., and Frank M. Troutman of Bonaparte, and Mrs. Dolores Crooks, who died in March of 1925 at Montrose.

Surviving members of the family are the husband, five children, 22 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Mrs. Troutman was a devoted wife and mother, a good neighbor, and a member of the Baptist church of Bonaparte. She and her husband have spent their entire married life in Bonaparte and vicinity with the exception of six years on a farm near Mt. Sterling.

The funeral was conducted by the Rev. F. M. James of Keosauqua on Sunday afternoon at the late home. Rev. Poole of Fairfield assisted in the service at the grave in Bonaparte cemetery. The casket bearers were six grandsons and the flower girls were granddaughters.

Members of the family from a distance attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Smith, Scott Smith, Mr. and Mrs. V. G. Koch and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Henry of Keokuk; Miss Virginia Crooks of Shelbina, Mo., Winston Beard of Ottumwa and Mr. and Mrs. Lev Troutman of Troy.
