Charles Franks, son of Frederick and Henrietta Frank, was born at Albersheim, Germany Dec. 9, 1851 and departed this life July 10, 1936. He was 84 years, 7 months and 1 day old at the time of his death.

One brother and three sisters have preceded his death. Miss Barbara Frank, a sister, and Philip Frank and John Frank, two brothers, reside in Donnellson.

Mr. Frank came to America from Germany April 13, 1865 or 81 years ago. Eighteen immigrants composed the party. Miss Barbara Frank, his sister, Mrs. Mary Weber and Chas. Holdefer, Sr., all of Donnellson, were in the party. After a seventy day voyage to New Orleans and a slow trip up the Mississippi river by steamboat they arrived at Keokuk and settled on a farm 1 1/2 miles north of Donnellson.

Mr. Frank was united in marriage with Miss Mamie Hassman Feb. 10, 1878 at Nebraska City, Nebr. Five children came to this union: Mrs. Tillie Jenkins of Valley Junction; Mrs. Lottie Scott of Farmington; Mrs. Alma Marks of Chicago; Mrs. Minnie Forbes of Los Angeles, Calif.; and George Franksof Pueblo, Colo.; and all remain to mourn his departure.

After their marriage they lived at Cook, Nebr., for some time. Jan. 2, 1896 they moved to Farmington and have resided here ever since that time.

In young manhood he worked for the Burg wagon factory and for the James Zane's factory in 1896, and also for the Henry Hartrick family. He took up a government claim in Colorado and farmed it.

His wife, Mrs. Frank, and seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends remain to mourn his departure.

Mr. Frank was confirmed in the German Lutheran church in early life and continued in that faith until his death.

Funeral services were held at the late home Monday morning. Interment was in the Farmington cemetery.
