William Brown Craig

William Brown Craig was born Dec. 5, 1858, at the Craig farm north of Pittsburg, and passed away in Los Angeles, Calif., Dec. 16, 1934, being 76 years and 11 days of age.

He was married to Cora Bell Lamphear on Nov. 5, 1884, near Clarinda, by the Covenanter minister, Rev. McKee, assisted by Rev. D. C. Wilson of the the Clarinda United Presbyterian church. He and his wife celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary only a few weeks ago. At that time he was in the best of spirits and enjoyed the gathering of all the members of his family and many friends.

To this union was born one son, Harry L., who now lives in Van Couver, Wash., and five daughters, Mrs. Hester Moore of Los Angeles, Calif., Mabel Craig, who died in 1912, Ethel B. and Elsie, both of Los Angeles, Calif. and Mrs. Vema Goss, of Peoria, Ill.

He leaves to mourn, his wife, one son, four daughters, one brother, John Craig of Keosauqua, and one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Burk of Stockton, Calif.

He united with the United Presbyterian church of Birmingham, later transferring his membership to the Clarinda church. He was elected an elder in the United Presbyterian church at Clarinda and served as a member of the sessions for 44 years. He later served as clerk of the session, and superintendent of the Sunday school.

Funeral services were held in the auditorium of the United Presbyterian church in Clarinda, conducted by a former pastor, Rev. Earl Person. Burial was in Clarinda cemetery.
