FRED E.H. KECK

**Handwritten: V.B. Record 7 Feb. 1935

Fred Keck, son of Elmer and Julia Keck, was born near Stockport April 15, 1894, and died at the Iowa State University hospital at Iowa City on Feb. 2, 1935, aged 40 years, 10 months and 17 days.

Fred attended high school at Salem and business college at Burlington. He fired for the C.R.I.&P. railroad for several years, and farmed with his father the rest of his life.

His father preceded him in death five months and five days ago. Of his immediate family he leaves to mourn, his mother, Mrs. Julia Keck, and one brother, Rex Keck of Bonaparte. Also two nephews, Harold and Dale Keck, and two nieces, Mildred Richards and Mary Lou Keck; and one great niece, Yvonne Richards.

The deceased fought life's battles a part of the time against discouragements, but in the midst of these, patience was the grace that helped him to overcome when light places in the clouds were seldom seen. Life's trials and defeats helped him finally to take himself the armor of God, through which he obtained that last victory over death, enabling him to say, "I have fought a good fight."

A short service was held at the home in Bonaparte, and the funeral was held at the church in Utica where he attended Sunday School as a boy. Rev. F.M. James of Cantril had charge of the services.

The pall beares were cousins, Chauncy and Craig Wilmeth, Ralph and Donald Dodds, Joe Easter and Kenneth Israel.
