Marlene L. Stage, 79, of Birmingham, died July 22, 2014, at University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City. She was born May 23, 1935, in Belleville, MI, to Theodore B. and Wanda L. Szydlowski Poniatowski and Married David B. Stage June 18, 1955, in Belleville, MI. He died December 11, 2008.

Marlene grew up in Belleville, MI, and graduated from Belleview High School. Shortly after she and David married they moved to Nevada where Marlene worked in the gaming business. They moved to Fairfield in 1974 and she worked in retail. Before retiring to Birmingham in 2004, Marlene traveled the United States with David inspecting fiber optics. She was an active member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Keosauqua.

Surviving are a daughter, Susan Maddix (Randy) of rural Birmingham, two grandchildren, Jessica Burgmeier of Fairfield and Clint Maddix (Kaytlin) of Lakeview, IA, and two great-grandchildren, Lucas Burgmeier of Fairfield and Cora Maddix of Lakeview, IA. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents.

Her body has been cremated. A memorial service was held July 26, 2014, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Keosauqua, with Rev. Mark Brase officiating. Interment of cremains will be at a later date in Maple Hill Cemetery, Birmingham. Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, handled the arrangements.
