Mrs. Elnora Guernsey

Elnora Van Fleet, only daughter of Aaron and Lucy Van Fleet was born north of Cantril, Iowa, May 13, 1868 and died near Hillsboro, Iowa, Dec. 17, 1935, being 67 years, 7 months and 4 days old at her death.

On June 21, 1893 she was united in marriage of George W. Guernsey, to this union was born one son, George W., Jr. Her husband departed this life March 24, 1894. She was a practical nurse and has been in many homes in the years of her work in the communities all about Cantril, Lebanon and Milton. Going to the home of her son, George several weeks ago, she passed away as above mentioned.

In early girlhood she united with the Presbyterian church in Lebanon, Iowa and ever remained a member of the old home church.

She was a member of the Ladies' Aid and often taught in the Sunday School. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge of Milton.

She leaves to mourn her passing the son, George; his wife and their six sons; her only grandchildren; one brother, Ralph and his wife and daughter, beside several cousins and a host of friends and neighbors.

Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church in Milton Thursday, December 19, 1935 at 2:00 with Rev. Lloyd Tennant, of Bloomfield preaching the sermon. The singing was by a select duet consisting of Mrs. M.E. Atkins and Mrs. J.E. Marshall, with Mrs. May Foster at the piano. Interment was in Sunnyside cemetery, Milton Iowa, beside the deceased loved ones.
