John F. Loomis

John Frederick Loomis, son of John and Shrilda Loomis, was born near Eldon, Iowa, Jan. 23, 1875, and passed away at his home near Douds, Iowa, Sept. 3, 1935, at the age of 60 years, 7 months and 10 days.

While not a member of any church he was a devout Christian and trusted to God's will. He was of a knd(sp) nature and lived a simple home life.

He has spent most of his life in the vicinity of Douds with his relatives and friends.

On May 7, 1901, he was united in marriage to Josephine May Scholtter. To this union two children were born, Glen Harold and John Stanley.

Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Glen and wife, and Stanley at home; three grandchildren, Lloyd Dale, Betty Lucille, Carroll Dean; four sisters, Mrs. Emma Haney of Selma, Mrs. Nora Byers of Douds, Mrs. Lucy Moore of Fairfield, Mrs. Myrtle Byers of Clatskanie, Oregon; two brothers, George of Eldon, Jess of Douds; two half brothers, Louria of Troy, James of Douds, and a number of other relatives and friends.

He was a kind and loving husband and father andn loved by all who knew him, a good neighbor and friend.

Funeral services were held at the home Thursday, Sept. 5. The body was laid to rest in the Iowaville cemetery, Selma, Iowa, Rev. J.C. Austin officiated.
