Martin H. Corns

Martin H. Corns, son of Ira and Sarah A. corns, was born on Oct. 11, 1844 at Taylorsville, Ohio and passed away at his home in Bentonsport April 25, 1936 age 91 years, 6 months and 14 days.

He moved to Bentonsport in 1856. In January 1864 he enlisted in Company E of the 15th Iowa Infantry and served until the close of the war.

On Sept. 19, 1877 he was united in marriage to Mary Etta Scott. To this union was born six children. One son and two daughters preceded him in death.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Mrs. Mary Etta Corns and three sons, Charles of Keokuk, Iowa; William and Calvin of Bentonsport, Iowa; one brother, Alonzo Corns and one sister, Mrs. Addie Musser, both of Bentonsport, eleven grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in Bentonsport Monday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. C. A. Bolton in charge.

Interment was in the Bentonsport cemetery with military honors in charge of the American Legion.
