Mary Frazee Cretcher

Mary Frazee Cretcher, daughter of William Reed and Mary Jackson Frazee was born June 13, 1850, in Van Buren county and passed away at her home in Cantril February 27, 1934, at the age of 83 years, 8 months.

She attended the public schools in Van Buren county and the Troy Academy and taught school for several years. While teaching at Niles, she met Wm. L. Cretcher and they were united in marriage on March 17, 1887. For thirty years they lived on a farm near Niles. To this union three sons were born: William F. of Gullway, Saskatchewan, Canada; Ward, who passed away October 16, 1921, and George J. of Cantril, who was at the bedside of his mother.

Mr. Cretcher passed away in August, 1919.

Mrs. Cretcher was a member of a family of ten children, six sisters having preceded her. She leaves besides the two sons, a sister, Mrs. Angie Sample of Milton; and two brothers, William J. Frazee of St. John, Kans., and Stephen J. Frazee of Byers, Kans.

The deceased was converted and united with the M. E. church early in life and all her days were given to the Lord’s service. Whenever at all possible she was at the church services. She was also a member of the Cantril chapter of the O. E. S. Her goi8ng is the crowning of her life.

Funeral services were from the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon in charge of her pastor, the Rev. H. F. Gilbert. Junior Wellborn, Mrs. J. C. Hall, Mrs. H. F. Gilbert and B. C. Casady sang “The City Four Square,” “Abide With Me” and “Jesus Lover of My Soul.”

Burial was made in Cantril cemetery.
