James Henry Hootman 1852-1930

James Henry Hootman, son of David and Sarah Hootman, was born in Van Buren county, Iowa, Nov. 30, 1852, and departed this life April 4, 1930, at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 4 days.

He was married to Sarah Frances Webster and they were blessed with three children, Harvey and Nellie dying in early childhood and Mary E. Overturff who departed this life May 17, 1923, He was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, six brothers, one half brother, and four sisters.

He was a member of the Milton Baptist church and strove to exemplify in his life the principles taught by the Master.

He was a kind husband and affectionate father and was ever thoughtful of the comfort of his sister, with whom he made his home in recent years. His friends were numbered by his acquaintances. We shall miss him, but our loss will be his gain, and we shall see him again in that resurrection morning.

Funeral services were held from the home in Milton Sunday, April 6, at 2:00 p. m., Rev. C. Wesley Fletcher of Bloomfield conducting the ser- [rest of obituary cut off]
