MRS. LINA MAIRET
Lina Mairet was born in Ponts de Martel, Switzerland, Feb. 1, 1871, and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lucile [sic] Snyder in Birmingham on May 8, 1937, at the age of 66 years, 3 months and 7 days. She came to Iowa in 1899 and was married soon after. Her home has always been Jefferson county.
She was married on Dec. 6, 1899, to Louis Mariet [sic], who preceded her in death Dec. 6, 1930. She is survived by the following children: two daughters, Mrs. Arnold Curry of Batavia and Mrs. Lucille [sic] Snyder of Birmingham; and two sons, Elmer of Waukesha, Wisc., and Alfred, who lives on the home farm. Also the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. John Schlarbaum of Drakesville, Louis Gentil, Laura Jacot, Ali and Fritz Mairet, all of Switzerland. One brother and two sisters have preceded her in death. One grandson and several nieces and nephews and many friends survive her.
Mrs. Mairet was a member of the Cross Lanes Presbyterian church. Her life was spent in lending a helping hand to her relatives and friends in the time of need.
Funeral services were held from the Christian church at Batavia on May 10, conducted by Rev. S. P. Williamson of the First Christian church of Fairfield, assisted by Rev. W. Stanley of Batavia. The remains were interred by the side of her husband in the Batavia cemetery.
