MRS. WILLIAM ARNOLD

Mrs. Emma Arnold, age 84 years, 4 months, and 25 days, passed away March 2, 1940, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Anna Bishop, near Keosauqua.

She was born at Kossuth, Des Des Moines County, October 6, 1855. In the year of 1879 she was united in marriage to William H. Arnold of Keosauqua, who preceded her in death February, 1923. To this union was born seven daughters, and three sons. One son and four daughters preceded her in death.

Those surviving are Lee Arnold of Keosauqua, Mrs. Grace Wells of Birmingham, Mrs. Edith Stonebraker, Boulder, Colorado, Mrs. Anna Bishop, Keosauqua, and Vern Arnold of Monmouth, Ill. All were at her bedside at the time of her death except the daughter in Colorado, who arrived later. Besides the children, she leaves seventeen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, and a sister besides a number of nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the Christian Church. Her great interest was in her home and family. She was a good neighbor with a kindly feeling toward everyone.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday morning, March 5, at the Burnett Funeral Home in Keosauqua, in charge of Rev. C.H. Orf. Burial was in Purdom Cemetery in Keosauqua.
