James Earnest Rambo
James Earnest Rambo, seventh son of George W. and Jane Farr Rambo, was born on a farm near Leando, Iowa, April 26, 1869, and passed away at his home in Leando, at 4 o'clock, Friday morning, April 5, 1935, at the age of 65 years, 11 months and 10 days.
In early life he attended the public schools, and was engaged in farming with his father, with the exception of two years, when he was on a farm with his brother, Charles, at Pratt, Kansas. He returned to Iowa at the end of the two year period, and later went west and was engaged in mining in California and Nevada. He returned to Iowa about three years ago, and made his home with his sister, Mrs. T.O. Grimsley, until the time of his death.
He was called to Kansas the latter part of October, 1934, to help care for his brother, Charles, who passed away January 30, 1935. While there he contracted an illness which developed into pneumonia and this, with other complications, resulted in his death as above stated.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, six brothers and one sister. He leaves to mourn his passing, four sisters, Mrs. Anna Shaffer, of Leando; Mrs. J.M. Parsons, of Fairfield; Mrs. T.O. Grimsley, of Leando; Mrs. Allie Carter, of Tieton, Wash., and one brother, Dr. D.T. Rambo, of Ottumwa, and a number of nieces and friends.
Funeral services were from the Leando M.E. church, Sunday, April 7, at 2 o'clock, and the sermon was preached by Rev. J.D. Stevens. The body was laid to rest in the Leando cemetery.
