James Alexander Ager
James Alexander Ager was born November 25, 1847, at New Hagerstown, Ohio, and died March 23, 1935, aged 88 years and four months, lacking two days. He was the oldest son of Dr. John M. Ager and wife, Anna Forges Ager. His father died when James was a boy of nine and his mother shortly after moved with her family to Van Buren county, Iowa, where, as he grew to manhood the boy assumed responsibility as head of the home. His mother died March 23, 1898, he passing away on the anniversary of her death.
On September 26, 1885, he was married to Barbara Kesling at Memphis, Mo., and to this union four children were born, Lena, who died in infancy; Frank Leslie, whose present address is unknown; Cora, now wife of Cloud Prophet, of Buffalo, and Marjorie, now Mrs. Frank Devore, of Supply. His wife died October 29, 1920, and he is survived by his son and wife, two daughters and their husbands, five grandsons, five granddaughters, and four great grandchildren, besides other relatives and a host of friends. He wrote much for publicity until the encroaching years prevented and his writings were full of his fine ideals and thoughts.
When but a young man he united with the Presbyterian church at Mt. Zion, Iowa, and remained a loyal member of that denomination until he came to Oklahoma in 1902. In 1913, after becoming a resident of Harper county, he placed his membership with the Protestant Methodist church at Kibby, where he was a regular attendant until the disbanding of the church there. Since the death of his wife he has made his home with his daughters, Mrs. Phophet(sp), at Kibby, and Mrs. Devoe(sp) of Supply.
Funeral services were held at Kibby at 2 o'clock, Monday afternoon March 25, conducted by the Rev. J.W. Chapman. Interment was in High Point cemetery.
