Died at her late home, one mile south of Bonaparte, Iowa, June 8, 1891, Mrs. Harriet S. Cummings, aged 54 years, 4 months and 8 days.

Her maiden name was Corwin, she being a daughter of James Corwin of this place. She was born in Sciota county, Ohio, January 31, 1837. In December 1839 she came with her parents to Van Buren county, where she made her home until her death.

She was married to Alexander Cummings, July 23, 1854, and to them seven children were born, two daughters and five sons, all of whom were present at the funeral.

Mrs. Cummings was a devoted wife, loving mother, and a kind and oliging [sic] neighbor. She leaves her husband, seven children, her father and four sisters and two brothers, to mourn their loss.

The funeral took place at her late home, June 10th, Rev. G. W. Barber officiating, and the remains were laid to rest in the Thompson cemetery.
