Catherine E. Winters

Catherine Elizabeth Terhune, daughter of David and Margaret Terhune, was born in Edgar County, Ill., May 6, 1844 and departed this life Jan. 16, 1935, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Emery Hughes in Selma at the age of 90 years, 8 months and 10 days.

She was united in marriage to George Winters in 1880, who preceded her in death in 1903. To this union were born three daughters Mrs. Frank Moore, Mrs. Emery Hughes and Mrs. John Perry, all of Selma, together with her ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Mary Grimsley, of Ottumwa and a host of friends, survive.

She was united with the Christian church about 35 years ago.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist church, Friday afternoon, January 18, at 1:30 with Rev. Wm. Heger in charge. Burial at the Iowaville cemetery. Music was furnished by Mrs. Art Hayden, Mrs. Mack Nason, Mrs. Joe Stump, Miss Luta Simmons, Harold Sterns and Charles Dahlgren, with Mrs. Ralph Leeper at the piano.
