MABEL ALLEN

MILTON-Mabel Maxine Allen, 84, of Milton died June 5, 1999, at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield of cancer.

She was born Nov. 23, 1914, in South Prairie, south of Milton, to Davis S. and Lucy Harman Lunsford. She married Lewis J. Allen Nov. 23, 1938 in Birmingham. He died Feb. 20, 1994.

She and her husband farmed and owned and operated the Gamble Store in Milton for 12 years and moved to Fairfield in 1961, where she worked at Universal Produce Company and Parkview Care Center. She retired and moved back to Milton in 1980. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Milton and currently serving as president of United Methodist Women.

She is survived by a daughter, Eileen Taylor of Bloomfield, a son, Larry Allen of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren; and three great-grand-daughters.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Cecil Lunsford.

The service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Methodist Church in Milton, the Revs. Raymond Doser and Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial will be in South Prairie Cemetery, south of Milton.
