LEWIS J. ALLEN

Lewis Joseph Allen, 78, son of Joe and Annie Bickel Allen, was born Dec. 16, 1915 in Pulaski and died Sunday, Feb 20, 1994, at the Altoona Manor Nursing Home.

He married Mabel Lunsford Nov. 23, 1938, in Birmingham. The Allens farmed, owned and operated the Gamble Store in Milton for 12 years, and moved to Fairfield in 1961 where he was employed at Louden Chain and Monorail Co. for 18 1/2 years, retiring in 1980, after which they moved back to Milton.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Milton. He is survived by his wife, Mabel; a daughter, Eileen Taylor of Bloomfield; a son, Larry of Cedar Rapids; a sister Lulu Gonterman of Davenport; three grandchildren and three great-grand-daughters.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 23 1994 in the Grace United Methodist Church, Milton, the Rev. Jerry Coughton officiating. Burial was in the South Prairie Cemetery, south of Milton. A memorial was established. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
