Cassie Morrow Findlay

Cassie Morrow, daughter of Albert and Sarah Morrow, was born on a farm northeast of Douds, Iowa, on February 6, 1863 and departed this life at her home in Keosauqua, Iowa, early Saturday morning, April 13, 1935, at the age of 72 years, 2 months and 7 days.

On January 29, 1891 she was united in marriage to George W. Findlay. They made their home for several years at Business Corners, north of Douds, later moving into Douds where they continued to live until 1902 when they moved to Keosauqua, where they have since made their home.

A nephew lived in the Findlay home for some time until taken by death.

Verna, a daughter of Mrs. Findlay's brother, was bereft of her mother at a very early age, at which time she came to live in the Findlay home where she has continued to live in that atmosphere of love and devotion that exists between mother and daughter.

Mrs. Findlay united with the Methodist church in Douds in early life later transferring her membership to the Keosauqua Methodist church where she remained faithful until the end. When health permitted she attended the Sunday school and church services regularly and was a faithful worker in the Ruthian society.

Mrs. Findlay came from a family of 12 children. Besides her husband and Verna Findlay, she is survived by two brothers, Sherman Morrow of Denver, Colo.; and Emanual Morrow of Joliet, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. W.G. Wilson, of Ottumwa, Iowa, and Mrs. Rosa Hendricks, of Eldon, Iowa; nephews and nieces, other relatives and a host of neighbors and friends.

Mrs. Findlay will be greatly missed in the home, in the church and in the community. While we miss her here, we will take our hope in the confidence that she has gone to that upper and better kingdom where the Redeemed shall enter.

Funeral services were held from th Keosauqua Methodist church, Sunday afternoon, April 14, at 2:30 p.m. in charge of the pastor, Rev. M.E. Hayes. Interment in the Zion Lutheran cemetery, northeast of Douds.
