Margaret Heaton.
Another old settler gone. Died at the home of her son Allan Heaton of Big Mound, Ia., June 4, 1908, Mrs. Margaret Heaton aged 91 years and 29 days, Margaret Goodlander was her maiden name, was born near Dayton, Ohio, May 4th, 1817.
On Dec. 29, 1836 she was married to Eli Heaton who died April 26th, 1899. To this union nine children was born, seven boys and two daughters. Jacob G. and Mary A. Watts, deceased; Elmore E. of Bronson, Kansas; Theodore F. of Larned, Kansas; Sarah E. Pickard, deceased; John N. of Allerton, Ia.; Aaron, George and Allan of Hillsboro, Ia.
Mrs. Heaton came with her husband to Iowa in 1852. In the spring of 1853 they moved to Big Mound Lee Co. where they resided until death.
Mrs. Heaton was a member of the Big Mound Christian church from which place the funeral was held.
