Mrs. William Vaughn

Mary Ellen Harmon was born Sepetember(sp) 24, 1855 in Van Buren county, Iowa and passed from this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nora Housman, of near Drakesville, Iowa, on January 28, 1935, at the age of 79 years, four months and three days.

She grew to womanhood in the White Elm community and one March 12, 1872, she was united in marriage to William Henry Vaughn. To this union three children were born, two sons, Emmett and Roy, and one daughter, Nora.

Mrs. Vaughn has spent all but about one years of her life in the community in which she grew up until about ten years ago when her health failed and she came to make her home with her daughter. She has continued to fail until death released her from her suffering.

She became a Christian early in life3 and was a member of the M. Gilead church of Christ for more than 50 years. She was a true faithful Christian to the end, a kind loving mother and wife and a neighbor all loved.

She leaves in her departure from this life, her three children, Emmet of Laurel, Mont., who attended the funeral, Roy of Gerber, Calif., who could not be present, and Mrs. Nora Housman of near Drakesville with whom she made her home. One sister, Mrs. Minerva Miller of the White Elm community, three grandchildren and other relatives and a host of friends. Her husband, Henry, two sisters and her parents preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held at the Mt. Gilead church Thursday January 31, at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. J.R. Adams of Bloomfield. Burial was at the Heidelbaugh cemetery.
